The Paris Police Prefecture has imposed a ban on fan gatherings on the Champs-Élysées during the quarterfinal stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Idman.Biz, citing RMC Sport, the order will be in effect from January 9 to January 11. From Friday at 15:00 local time until 02:00 on Sunday, gatherings of people who consider themselves or identify as supporters of football teams participating in the Africa Cup of Nations matches are prohibited within a designated area. The use of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices is also banned in the same zone during this period.
The restricted area includes the Champs-Élysées up to the Louvre, as well as Avenue Foch.
The Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals will feature the following matchups: Mali vs Senegal, Egypt vs Ivory Coast, Cameroon vs Morocco, and Algeria vs Nigeria.
