Former Real Madrid striker Raul Gonzalez has stated that Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal will not be the main figure of the Spain national team at the 2026 World Cup.
According to İdman.Biz, Raul shared his opinion in an interview with AS. Despite acknowledging the young player’s talent, he believes Yamal is not yet at a level where he can carry the team on his own.
Raul noted that Yamal is likely to become a key player for the national team in the future, but at the moment, the leading role belongs to more experienced footballers. He also emphasized that the young forward should not feel constant pressure to be the one who must always help the team.
The former star added that Yamal has already proven his great potential both at the club level and with the national team. Raul recalled watching him live for the first time at the Santiago Bernabeu during a friendly match against Brazil, where the youngster performed at a different level.
Nevertheless, Raul pointed out that Yamal is still going through a process of adaptation and has aspects of his game that require further development.
