Bulgaria men's volleyball team reaches World Championship final for first time since 1970

The Bulgaria men’s volleyball team has reached the World Championship final for the first time since 1970.

Idman.biz reports that in the 2025 tournament semifinals held in the Philippines, Bulgaria defeated the Czech Republic 3-1 (25:20, 23:25, 25:21, 25:22).

In 1970, the Bulgarian team won silver, losing only to East Germany, although medals were awarded based on a group format and no final match was played.

In the final of the 2025 World Championship, Bulgaria will face the winner of the Italy vs. Poland semifinal.

The tournament is being held from September 12 to 28 in the Philippines. Italy is the reigning champion, having defeated Poland in four sets in the 2022 final.
