At the Universiade held in Germany's Ruhr region, Azerbaijan's beach volleyball teams' participation will not be limited to the group stage.
According to the correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, the men's pair Nariman Bayramli – Aykhan Abdullayev and the women's duo Sabina Alizada – Fidan Ahmadkhanova lost all three matches in their group.
However, according to the tournament regulations, all teams continue to compete regardless of their group stage results. Only the leading pairs compete for medals, while the others battle for lower placements.
In the match for 17th–24th places, Alizada and Ahmadkhanova faced Chileans Marcela and Danae and lost in two sets — 20:22, 16:21.
Bayramli and Abdullayev were also defeated at the same stage by the Romanian duo Alb-Muresan — 18:21, 7:21.
