“Everything is going according to plan,” said Anastasiya Mertsalova, a player for the Azerbaijan women’s national volleyball team, in an interview with Idman.biz.
Speaking about preparations for the upcoming Golden European League, the 24-year-old highlighted that the training camp is progressing well:
“We’ve already moved from Slovenia to Greece. In Slovenia, we played a match against an American club and won 4–0. Both squads were tested during the game. Now in Greece, we’ll face their national team in a few matches to assess our strength once more.”
Mertsalova emphasized the importance of performing well in front of the home crowd:
“Our first official match will be in Azerbaijan. We want to make our fans happy, show our best game, and achieve victory.”
Azerbaijan will face Hungary in their opening match on May 30 in Baku.
