Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation, Faig Orujov, spoke to AZERTAC in this interview:
– Will there be more teams next season? We know the DH Volley Baku club has already been established. How many more debutants can we expect in the men’s and women’s leagues?
– Increasing the number of participating clubs makes the Super League more exciting and attractive. In this regard, steps are being taken to expand the lineup of teams. The participation of the women’s team DH Volley Baku in the championship has already been confirmed. Soon, we will announce the exact number of teams for the new season and other related details to the public.
– Which clubs will represent Azerbaijan in the European Cups next year, both in the men’s and women’s competitions? Have any clubs already declined participation?
– As you know, clubs have until mid-June to apply to the federation if they wish to participate in the European Cups. So far, we haven’t received any applications from the clubs regarding this.
– The current head coach of the men’s national team, Farid Jalalov, has been appointed as the head coach of the newly formed "DH Volley Baku" club. Will he continue with the national team as well?
– The men’s national team will compete in the CEV Silver League this year. Our national team has already started preparations for the competition under Farid Jalalov’s leadership.
– The women’s team has the CEV Golden League and the men’s team has the Silver League coming up…
– As I mentioned, both the women’s and men’s national teams have started preparing for these tournaments. Young and promising players have been called up to the training camps. We are also planning to hold some friendly matches as part of the preparations.
– What can the Azerbaijan teams realistically hope for in these tournaments?
– Of course, the goal for both teams is to perform well, advance to the next stages, and represent our country with pride. We wish both national teams the best of luck.
