"This season has been a tough test for me," said Dmitrii Baranov, a volleyball player for the Azerbaijan national team.
The 31-year-old blocker from Khilasedici shared his experience on social media, reflecting on the challenges he faced at the start of the season. He revealed that he encountered several obstacles, including surgery, rehabilitation, and pain.
“This season was a true test for me—one I had only heard about from others before.
Surgery, rehabilitation, pain — everyday was a battle not just for my health, but for my dream.
When there were almost no chances left, I didn’t give up.
I believed I could come back, even when there were more doubts than hope around me.
Three months after a major surgery, and I was back on the court.
Not for the stats, not for the applause — but for myself, for my team, for that boy who once picked up a ball for the first time.
“You only lose when you give up. I didn’t give up.”
These words became the meaning behind every morning, every practice, every time I stepped on the court.
I’m grateful to everyone who walked this difficult path with me: my family, coaches, doctors, fans, and my brothers in the FHN team.
This bronze medal from the championship and the gold from the Cup — they’re not just trophies.
They’re proof that if you stand your ground to the end, the impossible becomes reality.
I don’t know how many more seasons fate will give me.
But as long as my heart beats, as long as my legs carry me — I will play.
I will fight. I will dream.
Now, a new chapter begins — the national team of Azerbaijan.
I’m coming back. Stronger than ever!!!”
