Azerbaijan women's national volleyball team player Margarita Stepanenko has commented on the victory over Romania at the European Championship.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Stepanenko spoke to the press service of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation after the match at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.
She stressed the importance of the victory and praised the character shown by the team.
"We are happy that we won today. Regardless of the score, this victory was very important. This is volleyball – there are ups and downs during a match. Despite the fatigue, we played as a team and showed character. We are playing at home and our fans are supporting us. All of Azerbaijan believes in us. That's why we had to win," Stepanenko said.
Azerbaijan, coached by Faig Garayev, defeated Romania 3-2. It was the national team's third consecutive victory at EuroVolley 2026.
With eight points, Azerbaijan currently leads Group C.
