Beijing hosts first-ever World Humanoid Robot Games

The first World Humanoid Robot Games, where modern technologies are tested in competition formats adapted from sports designed for humans, have begun in China’s capital, Beijing.

At the opening ceremony, Chinese artists performed together with humanoid robots, presenting dances, martial arts, musical instrument performances, and samples from Chinese opera, Idman.biz reports.

The competitions are being held at the indoor speed skating stadium in Beijing Olympic Park. A total of 280 teams from 16 countries are participating: 192 representing universities and 88 representing private companies. The games will last three days, during which robots will showcase their skills in 26 different categories.

The program includes both sports disciplines, such as running, long jump, free movements, and football, as well as tasks aimed at developing practical skills. These include material processing, sorting medicines, and cleaning work under various conditions.
