On the eve of the World Games to be held in Chengdu, China, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has given special recognition to Azerbaijan’s mixed pair in aerobics – Medina Mustafayeva and Vladimir Dolmatov.
The aerobics competitions will be part of the multi-sport event taking place from August 7 to 17, Idman.biz reports.
The FIG portal notes that the main figures among the mixed pairs will be the Japanese duo Riri Kitazume and Mizuki Saito: “Kitazume and Saito won gold at the World Championships in Pesaro, finishing ahead of the silver medalists – Azerbaijan’s Mustafayeva and Dolmatov. At that event, Kitazume also defended her title as world champion in the women’s individual program. Saito became the first Japanese athlete to win a world championship in aerobics back in 2016. They are considered the main favorites for the title in Chengdu. However, the Azerbaijani pair and the bronze medalist Brazilians from the World Championships are also among the contenders for medals.”
