The organizers of the 2027 Universiade, to be held in Chungcheong, South Korea, held a press conference.
According to correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, the presentation took place at the "Messe Essen" exhibition complex in Essen city, within the multiforum in the Rhein-Ruhr region.
The Universiade program will include 18 sports disciplines: artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics, archery, rowing, judo, athletics, badminton, basketball, diving, fencing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, water polo, beach volleyball, and golf.
The upcoming Universiade will be held across 31 sports venues, almost all of which are already ready.
Regarding organizational matters, the cities of Tecon and Secon, as well as the Chungcheong-Namdo and Chungcheong-Pukto provinces, will jointly host this multiforum.
Thus, the Universiade will be held in South Korea for the fourth time. Previously, the country hosted the Winter Universiade in Chuncheon in 1997, the Summer Universiade in Daegu in 2003, and the Summer Universiade in Gwangju in 2015.
Speaking at the event, Chang Hee Kang, head of the Organizing Committee, stated that the tender committee representing the four regions of South Korea aims to hold the Games at a high level and with minimal costs.
The Universiade’s opening ceremony will take place in Tecon, while the closing ceremony will be held in Secon.
The multiforum will be held from August 1 to 12, 2027.
