Azerbaijani athletes have begun competing at the Universiade held in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region.
Competitions in rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and swimming kick off today, Idman.biz reports.
In the swimming program, Fatima Alkaramova competed in the 50-meter butterfly event. She recorded the second-best result in her heat. However, the final result will be determined after all participants complete their performances.
Abdurrahman Rustamov and Ramil Valizada will also compete in the 50-meter butterfly event. Said Hamidov is set to swim 100 meters backstroke. Additionally, the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay will also take place.
In fencing, Azerbaijani athletes have begun competing in the group stage. In the women’s epee event, Aynur Guliyeva, Nazila Rahimova, and Khadija Hasanli have already completed their first bouts. In the men’s sabre event, Magsud Huseynli, Saleh Mammadov, and Murad Akbarov will represent Azerbaijan.
