Five suspects have been detained in connection with the stabbing of Araz Musayev. Among them is Elshan Abdulrahimov, the head coach of Azerbaijan’s national kickboxing team.

The channel states that three of the suspects are Uzbek nationals and two are Azerbaijani citizens. After committing the crime, they went to a barber to cut their hair and change clothes, but Turkish gendarmerie arrested them at Antalya airport. One suspect managed to flee to Russia but was immediately detained upon landing after Turkiye alerted the authorities. Procedures for his extradition back to Turkiye are currently underway.
One of the detained individuals is confirmed to be the head coach of Azerbaijan’s national team.

For context, Araz Musayev, president of the Azerbaijan Muay Thai Federation and a nine-time world champion, was attacked by two individuals during the World Championship in Antalya on May 28. He suffered stab wounds to his neck and abdomen. After surgery, he was transferred to a hospital ward and is reported to be in stable condition.
