As part of the Crossing Europe for Fair Play and Peace initiative marking the 30th anniversary of the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), Azerbaijani athletes have successfully completed the symbolic 3,659 km distance from Baku to Brussels.
The distance was covered collectively by 62 athletes across various sports, including athletics (2,150 km), cycling (1,000 km), mountaineering (210 km), taekwondo (174 km), wrestling (85 km), and swimming (40 km), Idman.biz reports.
The initiative was organized jointly by the Fair Play Commission and the Athletes’ Commission of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee. The main goal of involving Azerbaijani athletes in the European relay was to promote values such as fair play, peace, and mutual respect.
The project not only highlighted athletic skills but also showcased teamwork, solidarity, and sportsmanship.
The initiative will conclude on May 19 with the celebration of the World Fair Play Day in Olympia, Greece.
