Nine nations confirmed for chovgan World Championship in Baku

Nine countries have officially confirmed their participation in the upcoming Chovgan World Championship to be held in Baku, İdman.Biz reports.

According to Report, alongside hosts Azerbaijan, the tournament will feature teams from Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, underlining the growing global reach of the traditional sport. Confirmed participants include Poland and Malta (Europe), Nigeria and Ghana (Africa), Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan (Asia), as well as Uruguay and Chile (South America).

The competition is expected to include 10 teams in total, with the final spot set to be taken either by a nation from Australia or the North American region.

Chovgan, a traditional equestrian game with deep historical roots in Azerbaijan, has been gaining increasing international recognition in recent years, with efforts made to promote it on the global stage.

The World Championship will take place from June 7 to 13 at the Baku Equestrian Centre, where teams will compete for the title in what promises to be one of the most significant editions of the tournament to date.
