Sports presenter Laura Woods has revealed the shocking extent of an injury she suffered in a freak accident in May 2024, which left deep cuts on her face and arm and came just millimetres away from causing serious damage to her eye, Idman.Biz reports.
Woods, 38, shared a series of graphic photos on social media and explained how the incident occurred while she was on holiday with her partner, reality TV star Adam Collard. During a light-hearted moment involving a pillow, an old glass lampshade suddenly shattered, sending shards flying and causing severe lacerations.
According to Woods, some of the cuts were so deep that they reached the bone. She was rushed into emergency surgery, later showing images and videos of her injuries before and after treatment, including stitched wounds around her eyebrow and beneath her eye. After the initial treatment, the couple made a five-hour drive to London to consult a specialist plastic surgeon.
Woods warned followers in advance about the graphic nature of the images and spoke openly about the physical and emotional challenges of her recovery. She revealed that she underwent multiple red-light therapy sessions and laser treatments in an effort to reduce scarring, admitting that the process was painful and expensive.
Despite the severity of the injuries, Woods returned to work and went on to present the 2024 Champions League final. She also revealed that shortly after the accident she discovered she was nearly five weeks pregnant.
While she says she remains conscious of the visible scars, Woods has continued to share her recovery journey and encouraged others who have experienced similar injuries to reach out for advice and support.
