The opening ceremony of the World Armwrestling Championship took place in Baku, Idman.Biz reports.
The event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, representatives of the Azerbaijan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (ABFF), President of the International Federation of Armwrestling (IFA) Anders Axklo, delegates from participating countries, and other official guests.
Before the ceremony, IFA President Anders Axklo and Minister Farid Gayibov were presented with a symbolic belt by ABFF Vice President for Armwrestling, Azer Maharramov.
After Axklo’s remarks, Minister Gayibov delivered a speech, wishing the participants success and officially declaring the championship open.
It should be noted that more than 400 athletes from 30 countries are competing in the tournament, which began today and will conclude on October 31.
