UFC Hall of Famer and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping was left in awe after visiting Baku for the UFC Fight Night: Hill vs. Rountree Jr. event held on June 21 at Baku Crystal Hall.
As the official commentator for the event, Bisping took the opportunity to explore the Azerbaijani capital and documented his experience in a vlog on his personal YouTube channel, Idman.biz reports.
He praised many aspects of Baku, highlighting the local cuisine, especially kebab and düşbərə (dumplings), as well as the cleanliness of the streets and the warm hospitality of the people.
During a morning run, Bisping gave viewers a tour of the city center, including the historic Old City (Icherisheher).
“I had some nice food yesterday. I had a traditional like bone broth soup with like dumplings. Got a lot of dumplings and then I got like a mixed kebab plate. Lot of cats coming up and begging. First of all, it freaked me out. I felt a little touch on my leg. I looked down. There's a scratchy little cat there. And then when I was full, started feeding them. Anyway, this is just some random road as we get to the good stuff.
They have the Formula 1 Grand Prix here. They got the UFC. They love the sports. They got a lot of great architecture. So if you're looking for somewhere different to go, I highly recommend it,” he shared.
