Iraqi MMA fighter Namo Fazil reveals alleged altercation with Chechens before DWCS bout

Iraqi MMA fighter Namo Fazil has spoken about an alleged confrontation with a group of Chechens before his latest fight.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Fazil recently suffered a knockout defeat to Kaik Brito in Dana White's Contender Series.

According to Fazil, the incident occurred while he was cutting weight for the fight. He claimed that around 15 Chechens entered his room while he was physically weakened after losing 10 of the 14 kilograms he needed to cut.

"I want to explain why I wasn't myself. I was attacked during my weight cut. I had already lost 10 kg out of 14 and was weakened. Fifteen Chechens burst into my room while I was wrapped in a blanket. One of them slapped me, while my coaches held me back from getting into a fight," Fazil said in a video posted on social media.

The Iraqi fighter claimed that he told the group he was prepared to settle the matter after his bout, but said they left when police arrived.

"Of course, they could have hurt me if they wanted to. I still went out there and fought, although I wasn't able to perform the way I wanted," he added.

Fazil also alleged that UFC fighter Baysangur Susurkaev, a teammate of former champion Khamzat Chimaev, was among those involved in the confrontation.

The dispute is believed to be connected to Fazil's victory over Russian fighter Yakub Suleimanov in the summer of 2025.
