Morales targets shock title clash with Makhachev

UFC welterweight contender Michael Morales has declared himself ready for a title fight against reigning champion Islam Makhachev, insisting he would accept the bout at a moment’s notice.

As reported by İdman.Biz citing MMAJunkie, the Ecuadorian fighter expressed full confidence in his chances, even against one of the most dominant champions in the sport.

“I’m 100 per cent ready to fight Makhachev. If they tell me today that I have a title fight tomorrow, I’ll say yes. If not, I’ll wait for my time. Makhachev already has two titles and he’s done an excellent job. But I also have a goal – to become a UFC champion and the first champion from Ecuador,” Morales said.

The 26-year-old also made a bold claim about his striking power, suggesting he has what it takes to finish the champion inside the distance.

“Can I knock out Islam? Yes. It might sound unusual, but every punch I throw is aimed at knocking my opponent out. And I can truly see it happening,” he added.

Morales remains unbeaten in his professional career and currently sits third in the UFC welterweight rankings, positioning himself as one of the division’s most intriguing rising contenders. With Makhachev continuing to expand his legacy across weight classes, a potential clash would carry significant narrative weight — not least the prospect of Ecuador producing its first UFC champion.
