Zeyd Alasgarov to compete for bronze as Anar Guliyev secures medal in Bulgaria

The World Championships among cadet judokas are ongoing in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Idman.biz reports that on the second day of the competition, five Azerbaijani judokas in three weight categories joined the contest.

Among them, Zeyd Alasgarov will fight for the bronze medal.

Leyla Alakbarova defeated Khongorzul Ariunzorig (Mongolia) and Konstantina Chaidou (Greece), but lost in the round of 16 to Clarice Ribeiro (Brazil).

Narmin Aghamirzazade lost in the round of 32 to Celine Iddir (France).

52 kg
Aysun Mammadova eliminated Giulia Bonzano (Italy) in the round of 64, but was later defeated by Yali Yahav (Israel).

Royal Gayibov was unable to overcome Raffaele Sodano in the round of 64.

Zeyd Alasgarov successively defeated Alexandros Polychronidis (Greece) and Lucas Yamamoto (Brazil). In the quarterfinals, he faced Yernur Batyrgali (Kazakhstan). Since his opponent advanced, Alasgarov entered the repechage. After defeating Botond Kunyik (Hungary), our judoka will face Toai Hashima for third place.
