Ahmaddin Rajabli’s 80th anniversary celebrated with honor - PHOTO

A ceremony was held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of renowned Azerbaijani sports veteran Ahmaddin Rajabli.

Idman.biz, citing AZERTAC, the event took place in the assembly hall of the Azerbaijan Sports Academy. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov stated that Rajabli has worked for many years for the development of Azerbaijani sports and has played a significant role in training young athletes. The minister wished the veteran a long and meaningful life, as well as strong health.

Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade noted that Rajabli is one of the individuals who contributed to promoting a healthy lifestyle in the country.

A video presentation followed, highlighting the Honored Coach’s rich life journey, his valuable contributions to sports, and his role in nurturing the younger generation.

Rajabli expressed his happiness at seeing so many people who care about him gathered on this important day.

Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Farid Mansurov emphasized that Ahmaddin Rajabli has left a significant mark in the history of Azerbaijani judo and para-judo. Chair of the Sports Veterans Public Union Zemfira Meftakhetdinova highlighted the veteran’s noble and admirable qualities.

Two-time Paralympic judo champion Ilham Zakiyev said he had learned the fundamentals of the sport from Rajabli and expressed his gratitude to him.

At the end of the ceremony, Azerbaijan’s living judo legend was presented with an order, commemorative gifts, and diplomas and letters of appreciation for his outstanding services to the development of sports.
