"The results of Azerbaijan's national youth judo team at the European Cup held in Skopje, North Macedonia, were successful."
According to Idman.biz, this was stated to Report news agency by the team’s head coach Rustam Alimli.
The coach noted that the main goal was preparation for the European Championship to be held in September: “The primary goal is preparation for the European Championship that will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, in September. We went to this tournament with our main squad, and the objective was to test the athletes. We aimed to assess their current form, identify mistakes and shortcomings. Overall, our results were successful. Four of our athletes won gold medals. We ranked first in the team standings. Honestly, I expected this because our athletes are in great shape.”
Alimli also touched on the upcoming plans: “After this tournament, there will be a 3-day training camp in Skopje. Then, from August 11 to 23, we will train in Guba. During this period, we will work on correcting mistakes and aim to head to the European Championship in the best possible form.”
The Azerbaijani team finished first in the team standings among 26 countries at the European Cup with 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
