“Many of the judokas participating in the European Judo Hopes international tournament will be seen in our national teams in the future.”
Idman.biz, citing Report news agency, reports that this was stated by Natig Baghirov, advisor to the president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF), during the European Judo Hopes Tournament held in Baku.
He noted the significant role of the international tournament in the development of young judokas: “Nearly 500 boys and girls from 12 countries are developing in this tournament. Here, future Azerbaijani judokas are competing. They will represent us at prestigious competitions in the future. We hope to see many of the judokas participating in this tournament in our national teams later on.”
The expert also expressed hope that this tournament will continue to be held in Azerbaijan in the coming years: “From this year, the European Judo Union has decided to organize this tournament among judokas aged 13 and 15. We are confident that our tournament will be held next year and in the years to come. I believe that every year dozens of country representatives will come and participate in this competition.”
The tournament organized by the European Judo Union at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex will conclude on July 27.
