On July 23, judo competitions will kick off at the FISU World University Games in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region.
According to special correspondent of Idman.biz in Germany, the event will take place at Messe Essen, the main sports venue of the multiforum in Essen.
Organizers have already begun preparing the arena. The judo tournament will be held in the same hall where the artistic gymnastics events took place earlier during the Universiade.
The Azerbaijani national judo team arrived in Essen a few days ago and has already started training. The team includes: Babarahim Mirzayev (60 kg), Nazir Talibov (66 kg), Nariman Mirzayev (73 kg), Mehdi Abbasov (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), Davud Namazli (100 kg), Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg), Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), Aydan Valiyeva (52 kg), Fidan Alizada (52 kg), Aytaj Gardashkhanli (70 kg), Narmin Amirli (78 kg), and Nigar Suleymanova (+78 kg).
Although the competition schedule is known, the draw has not yet taken place.
On July 23, Babarahim Mirzayev (60 kg), Nazir Talibov (66 kg), Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), Aydan Valiyeva (52 kg), and Fidan Alizada (57 kg) will take to the tatami.
The following day, Nariman Mirzayev (73 kg), Mehdi Abbasov (81 kg), and Aytaj Gardashkhanli (70 kg) will compete.
On July 25, Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), Davud Namazli (100 kg), Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg), Narmin Amirli (78 kg), and Nigar Suleymanova (+78 kg) will be in action.
The team events are scheduled for July 26.
