“This will be my fifth test in international competitions. So far, I have won gold medals at the European Cups held in Samorin and Guba, and a bronze in Tbilisi.”
This is what Azerbaijani judoka Zeyd Alasgarov (60 kg) said ahead of the 18th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which will take place in North Macedonia and Croatia, Idman.biz reports.
He aims to repeat his recent success at the European Championship: “I’ve already experienced the atmosphere of the European Championship. I believe that returning to the same venue a month later and stepping onto the tatami again in a familiar setting will be more comfortable for me. This factor may positively impact my performance. Our preparations are going very well. I believe I will also perform successfully at EYOF.”
The judo competitions of the EYOF will be held at the indoor hall of the Jane Sandanski Sports Center in Skopje, North Macedonia. The Azerbaijani team will compete in 10 sports with 52 athletes (28 boys and 24 girls).
