Azerbaijani judoka Davud Namazli (100 kg), who won a silver medal at the European Youth Cup held in Prague, Czech Republic, said his toughest fight was in the quarterfinals against an American athlete.
Idman.biz reports that Namazli shared this with Report news agency.
He explained the reason for his defeat in the final: “Overall, my matches went well. The opponents I defeated on the way to the final were all titled and strong athletes. My toughest opponent was the American judoka I faced in the quarterfinals. The match lasted until the 'Golden Score.' In the final, I lost due to some technical shortcomings.”
Namazli also highlighted his biggest goals for the year: “The Universiade is coming up. I will try to turn the silver medal I won here into gold at that event. My biggest goal this year is to become the champion at both the European and World Youth Championships.”
428 judokas from 32 countries competed at the European Cup.
