The World Judo Championships continue in Budapest, Hungary.

Zelym Kotsoiev (100 kg), who received a bye in the first round, defeated Gennaro Pirelli (Italy) in the round of 16, followed by a victory over Marat Baikamurov (Kazakhstan). In the quarterfinals, our Olympic champion faced Arman Adamian (IJF). After losing the match, Kotsoiev entered the repechage round. He overcame Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (Spain) and then faced Seongyeon Kim (South Korea) in the bronze medal match. With a confident victory, our judoka secured the bronze.
Azerbaijan has now won three bronze medals at the World Championships, thanks to Zelim Tckaev (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), and now Zelym Kotsoiev.

In the men's 100 kg category, Olympic champion Zelym Kotsoiev was exempt from the first round. He went on to defeat Gennaro Pirelli (Italy) in the round of 16 and Marat Baikamurov (Kazakhstan) in the next stage. However, Kotsoyev fell to Arman Adamyan (IJF) in the quarterfinals.
Entering the repechage bracket, Kotsoiev beat Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (Spain) and earned the right to fight for bronze. He will now face Seung-Yong Kim (South Korea) in the medal bout.
So far, Azerbaijan has earned two bronze medals at the championships through Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) and Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg).
