IJF praises Tckaev’s tactical brilliance in bronze medal victory

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has commended Zelim Tckaev for his smart and strategic performance during his bronze medal match at the World Championships in Budapest.

The IJF highlighted Tckaev’s decisive behavior in the golden score period, stating:

“Tckaev made smart decisions, avoided risk, stayed on the offensive, and maintained distance. This strategy was the right choice.”

In an in-depth analysis of the -81 kg bronze medal bout against Nugzari Tatalashvili (UAE), the IJF praised both judokas for their power and dynamism, calling it “a thrilling show for spectators.”

“Tatalashvili, in excellent shape throughout the day, looked ready to strike from the start. However, Tckaev’s ability to attack, counter, and fight in ne-waza gave him the early advantage. He even came close to securing a submission hold at one pointIn the first bronze medal contests, two physical and dynamic fighters took to the mat to give the spectators a great show. Nugzar Tatalashvili (UAE), on great form all day, was ready to attack straight away but Zelim Tckaev (AZE) can attack, throw and also transition to the ground and so the first exchange almost ended with Tckaev holding Tatalashvili down; there was a near-armlock moment too!.”

The analysis noted the importance of strong grips in the match, with Tckaev nearly scoring with uchi-mata, but Tatalashvili escaped using acrobatic maneuvers.

“Furiously fast gripping was key in the second exchange and Tckaev won that round as well, almost throwing with uchi-mata, save for some acrobatics from the UAE judoka who scrambled to stay on his front. Tckaev was leading throughout and Tatalashvili earned himself two penalties because of it and they were all that was visible on the scoreboard as the clocked arrived at zero.”

This bronze marks the first medal for Team Azerbaijan at the ongoing World Championships.
