Six Azerbaijani judokas among the top seeds at World Championships

Six Azerbaijani judokas have secured seeded positions for the upcoming Judo World Championships set to begin on June 13 in Budapest, Hungary.

According to Idman.biz, Azerbaijan will be represented by two seeded athletes in the 73 kg weight category. Leading the list is Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov, who holds the top seed, while Rashid Mammadaliyev ranks sixth in the same division.

Another Olympic champion, Zelym Kotsoiev, is also the top seed in the 100 kg weight class. In addition, Zelim Tckaev is ranked fifth in the 81 kg category, Eljan Hajiyev is fourth in the 90 kg division, and Ushangi Kokauri is seeded sixth in the +100 kg class.

Higher-ranked athletes typically face lower-ranked opponents in the opening rounds or may even start directly from the second round, offering a strategic advantage in the competition.
