The ACF Cup in ne-waza judo for U20 athletes is set to take place on May 17, bringing together the country’s rising talents in ground technique combat.
The tournament will feature 152 judokas — 128 boys and 24 girls — representing 34 clubs and sports societies, Idman.biz reports.
The event will be hosted at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex, where competitors will vie for medals across 12 weight categories.
Ne-waza, or ground technique, is a crucial aspect of judo. It allows athletes to develop and sharpen their parterre skills, such as pins, joint locks, and strangles. Mastery in ne-waza is essential for escaping holds, countering attacks, and securing victories with effective submissions.
This tournament not only promotes technical excellence but also strengthens strategic thinking among young judokas on the national stage.
