Abu Dhabi Grand Slam: Azerbaijan's judoka secures bronze

Abu Dhabi Grand Slam has started kicked off.

According to Idman.biz, six Azerbaijani judokas are set to compete on the first day.

60 kg:
Balabay Aghayev started in the second round but was defeated by Daulet Syukenov (Kazakhstan).
Huseyn Allahyarov faced off against Nika Khuzaurashvili (Georgia) but could not advance.

66 kg:
Ruslan Pashayev lost in his first match against Theo Raoul Hebrard (France).
Rashad Yelkiyev had a strong start, defeating Ismoil Nishonboyev (Uzbekistan) and Bentse Pogrants (Hungary). However, his journey was halted by Erkembayar Battogtok (Mongolia) in the quarterfinals. In the consolation match, he couldn't overcome Takeshi Takeoka (Japan).
Women

48 kg:
Leyla Aliyeva, who began her run in the quarterfinals, was bested by Sara Ishta (Germany) and later fell to Melane Lego (France) in the consolation round.

57 kg:
Acelya Toprak won her first match against Marina Azinou (Cyprus) but was stopped in the quarterfinals by Shirlen Nascimento (Brazil). In the consolation match, Faiza Mokdar (France) forfeited due to injury, granting Toprak a chance to fight for the bronze. Her opponent was Flaka Loxha (Kosovo). Azerbaijan's judoka, who won the victory, has mastered the buru.
