International Judo Federation (IJF) ambassador and five-time Olympic gymnastics champion Nadia Comaneci has addressed the athletes competing at the World Judo Championships in Baku in a video message.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation announced this.
Drawing on her own experience as an athlete, Comaneci stressed that discipline, courage and perseverance are at the heart of great achievements.
“I want to say to all the athletes competing in Baku: compete with pride, respect your opponents and give everything you have on the tatami. Along with medals, what remains in people’s memories is the character we show and the inspiration we give to the next generation,” Comaneci said.
At the end of her message, the five-time Olympic champion wished all participants an unforgettable World Championships.
The World Judo Championships are being held in Baku from October 4 to 11, bringing together leading judokas from around the world.
