Two-time Olympic champion discharged from hospital in Baku

French judoka Sarah-Léonie Cysique, who was hospitalized following a heavy fall at the World Judo Championships in Baku, has been discharged from hospital.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Cysique underwent medical examinations at Leyla Medical Center after being taken there by ambulance following her semifinal bout in the women's 57 kg category.

The incident occurred during Cysique's contest against Japan's Akari Omori. Following her opponent's throw, the French judoka landed awkwardly on her shoulders before hitting her head on the tatami. The 28-year-old was carried out of the arena on a stretcher and subsequently taken to hospital.

Cysique underwent CT and MRI scans at the clinic. According to the French Judo Federation, the results were reassuring, and the athlete was allowed to return to the French team's hotel late in the evening. She remains under the supervision of the national team's doctor.

Her condition will be reassessed over the next 48 hours, after which the medical staff will decide whether she can compete in the mixed team event on October 11, which will conclude the World Championships in Baku.

Due to the injury, Cysique was unable to compete in the bronze medal contest. Croatia's Ana Viktorija Puljiz was awarded the medal without a bout.

Cysique is a two-time Olympic champion as a member of France's mixed team, having won gold at the Tokyo and Paris Games. In the individual 57 kg event, she also claimed silver at the Tokyo Olympics and bronze at the Paris Games.
