International Judo Federation (IJF) President Marius Vizer delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Judo Championships in Baku.

"Welcome to Azerbaijan – a land of initiatives, energy, new technologies and sustainable development, as well as a country of sport, culture and traditions. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for its continuous and valuable support for all sports and events, especially these World Championships.
I congratulate the Azerbaijan Judo Federation and the winners on their great achievements in recent years. I also congratulate the entire Olympic family on the remarkable successes achieved and the organisation of high-level events.
May judo serve as a source of inspiration for unity, friendship and peace in today's divided world. I am grateful to all our guests, fans, the judo family and the entire sports family," Vizer said.
The World Judo Championships, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, will conclude on October 11. Azerbaijan's Ahmad Yusifov became world champion in the men's 60 kg category on the opening day of the competition.
