The Junior European Judo Championships will begin today in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.
As reported by İdman.Biz, seven Azerbaijani judokas will take to the tatami in five weight categories on the opening day of the competition.
In the women's 48 kg category, Nargiz Ahmadova will face Portugal's Mariana Pereira in the round of 32, while Gulgaz Musayeva will take on Moldova's Ksenia Vainer at the same stage.
At 52 kg, Aysun Mammadova will meet Ukraine's Marharyta Miroshnychenko in the round of 32.
In the 57 kg category, Aytan Verdiyeva will face Marketa Korcakova of the Czech Republic in the round of 32. Khadija Gadashova, competing in the same weight class, will enter the tournament in the round of 16, where she will meet the winner of the bout between Slovenia's Nika Tomc and Hungary's Luca Veg.
In the men's competition, Aykhan Mirzazade will face Cyprus' Stratos Charalambous in the 60 kg round of 32.
At 66 kg, Mahammad Musayev will take on Estonia's Robert Jakimov in the round of 32.
The preliminary rounds are scheduled to begin at 11:30, with the final block starting at 18:00.
