Paris 2024 Olympic Champions to miss Azerbaijani Judo Championships

Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalists Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) will not participate in the Azerbaijani Judo Championships, scheduled for December 5–7.

According to Idman.Biz citing Report, other prominent members of the senior and youth national teams will take part in their place.

In the men’s categories, competitors include: Balabay Agayev, Huseyn Allahyarov (both 60 kg), Turan Bayramov, Elshan Asadov, Nizami İmranov, Nihad Mamishov, Tofiq Mammadov, Ruslan Pashayev, İslam Rahimov, Nazir Talibov, Rashad Yelkiyev (all 66 kg), İbrahim Aliyev, Rashid Mammadaliyev, Nariman Mirzayev, Rufat Shovlatov, Kamran Suleymanov (all 73 kg), Vusal Qalandarzada, Omar Racabli, Zelim Tchkayev, Suleyman Shukurov (all 81 kg), Elcan Haciyev, Aslan Kotsoyev, Vuqar Talibov (all 90 kg), Ajdar Bagirov, Elmar Qasimov (both 100 kg), Ushanqi Kokauri, Kanan Nasibov, Camal Qamzatxanov, Ramazan Ahmadov (all +100 kg). Additionally, world and European bronze medalist Karamat Huseynov will compete in the 73 kg category.

In the women’s categories, participants include: Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), Gultac Mammadaliyeva, Xadica Qadashova, Aydan Valiyeva, Leyla Aliyeva (all 52 kg), Fidan Alizada (57 kg), Nargiz Haciyeva (63 kg), Sudaba Agayeva, Aytac Qardashxanli (both 70 kg), Narmin Amirli, Gunel Hasanli (both 78 kg), and Nigar Suleymanova (+78 kg).

Individual competitions will begin on December 5–6 at 09:00, while the team event qualification matches start on December 7 at 10:00. Final blocks for all three days will take place at 17:00.

The official opening ceremony of the Azerbaijani Championship will be held on December 6 at 16:15. The tournament at the Baku Sports Palace will feature 237 judokas (179 men, 58 women) from 54 clubs and sports organizations, competing across 14 weight categories for the national champion titles.
