According to the decision of the International Judo Federation (IJF), the 2026 Judo World Championships for seniors, which will be held in Baku, have been rescheduled.
Idman.Biz reports, citing the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, that the championship will now take place from October 4–11, 2026. The date change aims to avoid overlapping with other major international sporting events and to ensure broader television coverage of the World Championships.
Individual competitions will be held from October 4–10, while the mixed team events are scheduled for October 11.
Baku will host this prestigious event for the second time, having previously organized the Judo World Championships in 2018.
It is worth noting that the tournament was initially planned for July 9–16.
