Moldovan President Maia Sandu has awarded a number of individuals state honors for their achievements in culture, sports, education, public administration, medicine, economics, and science.
Idman.Biz, citing AZERTAC, reports that among the recipients is Azerbaijani judoka Adil Osmanov, who won a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. By a presidential decree, Osmanov has been awarded the “Order of Honour” for his exceptional contributions to the development of sports in Moldova and his outstanding achievements in the field.
Expressing gratitude to President Maia Sandu for the honor, Osmanov told AZERTAC that the award also reflects the strong friendship between Moldova and Azerbaijan.
“This is not only a personal achievement but also an important symbol of Moldova’s unity and strength, showing how members of various communities contribute significantly to the country’s international reputation,” Osmanov said.
It is noted that Adil Osmanov is an active young member of the Moldovan Azerbaijani Congress and has been closely involved in the development of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Moldova.
