Barcelona president Joan Laporta responded to the results of the Ballon d'Or ceremony, where Usman Dembele won the prestigious trophy and 18-year-old Lamine Yamal finished in second place. The young winger also won the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive time, reports Idman.biz.
“No one has won two Kopa Trophies, and I’m sure Lamine will now compete for the Ballon d'Or,” Laporta said. “It was exciting in the hall: some shouted ‘Usman, Usman!’ while we cheered ‘Lamine, Lamine!’ I’m sure this will motivate him even more,” Gpal quoted Laporta as saying.
Laporta also highlighted Aitana Bonmati, who won her third consecutive women’s Ballon d'Or.
“I’m very happy for Aitana. Her words about family, club, and equality were touching. These motivations push her to become even better,” he said.
Laporta also thanked the fans for their support and faith in the team, emphasizing that Barcelona is nurturing a new generation of players capable of dominating world football.
