The Azerbaijan national team has parted ways with head coach Fernando Santos.

AFFA Secretary General Jahangir Farajullayev announced this at a press conference, Idman.biz reports.

He stated that the contract with the Portuguese specialist was mutually terminated.

For the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Ukraine, our team will be led by U-21 head coach Aykhan Abbasov.

The Azerbaijan – Ukraine match will take place on 9 September.
