Newcastle United have completed the record signing of German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a deal worth up to £69m.
Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the 23-year-old, standing at 6ft 6in, has agreed to a long-term contract with the Magpies, becoming the most expensive player in the club’s history and surpassing the £63m fee paid for Alexander Isak in 2022.
Woltemade, who will wear the number 27 shirt, was not registered in time to feature against Leeds United this weekend, but is expected to play a crucial role moving forward, particularly amid ongoing uncertainty over Isak’s future, with the Swede keen on a move to Liverpool.
“I’m really happy to be at this amazing club,” Woltemade said, adding that Newcastle’s ambitions convinced him to leave Germany. Head coach Eddie Howe welcomed the signing, praising the forward’s technical qualities and potential for further growth.
Woltemade scored consistently in the Bundesliga and now aims to make his mark in the Premier League at St James’ Park.
