Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is set to join Bayern Munich on a loan deal that includes an option to buy.
Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the Premier League club will receive an initial loan fee of £13 million (€15 million), while the German champions hold a £56.2 million (€65 million) purchase option for the Senegalese forward. Jackson, 24, has already agreed to a pre-contract with Bayern and has been granted permission to travel to Germany to finalize the move. A sell-on clause is included in the agreement between the two clubs.
Jackson joined Chelsea in 2023 but has seen his opportunities limited by the arrivals of summer signings Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. He has not appeared for the club since coming on as a substitute in their semi-final victory over Fluminense in the Club World Cup in July.
The former Villarreal striker boasts a solid record of 24 goals in 65 Premier League appearances. However, over the past two years, he has under-performed his expected goals tally by seven, the second-highest among Premier League players.
A key factor has been his conversion rate in what Opta defines as “big chances.” Jackson has scored just 18 of 61 such opportunities (29%), a relatively low rate compared to other top forwards.
Bayern Munich will hope that Jackson can regain his scoring form in the Bundesliga and make a strong impact during his loan spell.
