"Qarabag" football club, which has qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, has not submitted any official request to hold its matches at the Olympic Stadium.
According to Idman.biz, this was stated by Farid Asadzade, the director of the Baku Olympic Stadium, in an interview with Oxu.Az.
"Currently, the stadium does not have a grass surface. This is due to the COP29 event held in Baku last year. After that event, the grass at the stadium was not restored. This year, because the winter months were harsh, we also did not carry out the restoration work. Later, knowing that a large-scale event would take place at the stadium in July, we decided not to restore the grass. The 'Qarabag' club has also not submitted any official request to hold matches at the Olympic Stadium. If a request is submitted, official information will be provided regarding this matter. Overall, it is impossible to say whether the stadium will be ready by that time," said Asadzade.
Qarabag’s opponents in the UEFA Champions League group stage will be determined after the draw, which will take place today at 20:00 Baku time.
