“Qarabag” has already decided the tie.
Idman.biz reports that Ramin Musayev, who served as PFL president from 2008 to 2022, said this in an interview with Teleqraf ahead of today’s UEFA Champions League playoff match between “Qarabag” and Hungary’s “Ferencvaros.”
He stated that the Agdam club would not face difficulties in the return leg at Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium: “I don’t believe Ferencvaros will cause a surprise here. Qarabag’s 3:1 away victory is enough to secure qualification for the group stage.”
Musayev advised head coach Gurban Gurbanov not to change the lineup for the second leg: “There is an unwritten rule in football that a winning team shouldn’t be changed. Perhaps Musa Gurbanli could get a chance. Scoring in the match in Hungary probably earned him the coach’s confidence. I think he should play in the second half if not the first.”
He also emphasized that if “Qarabag” reaches the Champions League group stage, the attacking line should be strengthened: “If they want to achieve further success, they need to sign a foreign striker. The domestic market has limited options. Kevin Medina’s presence in defense gives me confidence, he is practically half a goalkeeper. Mateusz Kochalski should remain in goal. Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev is a good backup, better leave him as is (laughs).”
The return leg between “Qarabag” and “Ferencvaros” will start today at 20:45. In the first leg in Hungary, the Agdam team won 3:1.
