Jakhangir Hasanzade: "At worst, Qarabag will draw and still advance"

“The first match was a win for Qarabag, but the score can be deceiving because Ferencvaros is not a weak opponent.”

According to Idman.biz, these words were stated by veteran goalkeeper and current AFFA Technical Director, Jakhangir Hasanzade, in an interview with Sport24.az.

He expressed confidence that Qarabag will advance in today’s match: “The 3-1 result in Hungary didn’t fully reflect the match. It could easily have been 2-3 or 1-2. In that case, a single goal could have changed everything. This means Ferencvaros could capitalize on the chances they missed in the first match during the second game. Qarabag is a strong team and, regardless of the result, has created the conditions to advance. The team’s strength allows them to play against any opponent at any level. The match in Baku will be more challenging. Looking at the game plan, Ferencvaros will have to play more offensively. Qarabag’s fast and well-organized counterattacks and transitions will give them an advantage. Still, the pressure from the opponent will be on our team. They can score at any moment. Even a minimal win that lasts until the end of the game will be stressful. After all this, I believe that at worst, Qarabag will draw and still advance.”

The Qarabag – Ferencvaros match will kick off today at 20:45. In the first leg in Hungary, the Agdam team won 3-1.
