Interview with Imishli player Ezekiel Morgan for Futbolinfo.az.
– In your last match, you drew against title contenders Neftchi. Did you expect that?
– Honestly, we knew that playing against one of the main favorites, Neftchi, would be tough. That’s why we prepared seriously and purposefully. The match reflected both our determination and self-confidence. It also gave us additional motivation and confidence for upcoming games.
– Overall, Imishli has started the Premier League surprisingly well. What is the main motivation of the team?
– We began the Premier League with a fighting spirit and self-confidence. Our main motivation comes from the pride of representing Imishli. We are not here by chance, and we want to prove that. As a newly formed team, it’s normal for there to be some doubts about us, but those doubts actually make us stronger. Our goal is not just to stay in the league but to fight for a respectable position.
– Do you have a specific target in the league, or is survival the main focus?
– My goal is not only to remain in the league, I have bigger ambitions. This season, I aim to score goals and provide productive assists to help my team solidify our position in the league.
– Next, you will face another strong team, Sabah. Do you think you can get points from them?
– We know that the match against Sabah will not be easy. They are a strong and experienced team. But we will do our best to show our potential on the field.
– How has the Azerbaijani championship affected you after the first two rounds?
– As an Imishli player, the first two rounds of the Premier League have been valuable experience for me. The expansion of the league to 12 teams has increased competition, which is clearly felt on the field. Playing at this level is an important opportunity for both individual and team development.
– Does not playing home games in Imishli affect the team? Would full stands make a difference?
– Playing away from Imishli is certainly a different experience. Playing in front of our home fans is a special motivation for every player, and we always feel their support. Right now, we try to do our best regardless.
– What is your assessment of the other teams in the Azerbaijani Premier League, and which team seems the strongest?
– After the first two rounds, the level of competition in the Premier League is clearly noticeable. The expansion to 12 teams brings together both experienced favorites and ambitious new teams like ours. This balanced and varied competition makes the league more interesting and dynamic.
