Aleksey Isayev, the midfielder of the Azerbaijan national team, shared his thoughts on the major European ambitions of his club, Qarabag.
According to Idman.biz, the 29-year-old footballer gave an interview to “Championat.”
Isayev stated that Qarabag is always tasked with reaching the group stage of the UEFA Champions League: “We are progressing step by step in this direction. Our team is strong, cohesive, with professional players and an excellent coaching staff. I believe we are worthy of that level.
I watched the game in Budapest from home. Naturally, there was concern when we conceded a goal. But I believed in the team, and I still do. Before the match, I said we would win today, and the players performed excellently. However, we cannot be complacent. Nothing is over yet. The return match will be more challenging, and we must be fully prepared.
There is no pressure on us, but people have hopes, believe, and wait eagerly. We must not disappoint them. We need to achieve our goal.”
In the first leg of the Champions League play-off, Qarabag defeated Hungary’s Ferencvaros 3:1 away. The return leg will take place today in Baku at 20:45.
