The second “Ulduz Cup” international football tournament for 12-year-old players has kicked off in Guba.
Idman.biz reports that the opening ceremony of the tournament, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, AFFA, and the “Ulduz” Football Academy, was held today.
A representative of the Guba District Executive Authority, Arif Babayev, welcomed the participants and wished the teams success.
Elchin Gasimov, a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, spoke about Guba being chosen as the sports capital and the first “Ulduz Cup” tournament being held there last season. He noted that while four foreign teams participated last year, this time the number has increased to eight. Gasimov emphasized the importance of holding such competitions in the country.
The event continued with a cultural program.
The tournament is being held at the Guba Olympic Sports Complex stadium, with the following teams participating: representing Azerbaijan are “Ulduz” FA, “Qarabag” FC, “Sabah” Fc, and “Neftchi” PFC; representing Turkiye are “Trabzonspor School” and “Basaksehir” FC; representing Georgia is “Dinamo Tbilisi”; representing Uzbekistan are “Pakhtakor” FC and “Bunyodkor”; representing Kyrgyzstan is “Sdusorsi”; representing Qatar is the “Aspire Academy”; and representing Kazakhstan is “Shakhter” FC.
