– You couldn’t earn points in the home game against Sabah. How do you evaluate the result?
– This was our first home game of the season. We wanted to make our fans happy, but unfortunately, we couldn’t.
– Did conceding an early goal affect the team? Did morale drop after letting in a goal in the 1st minute?
– Of course, it had an impact. But we managed to get back into the game. That’s football, everything can change in a minute. You can’t lose motivation in any situation, you have to play until the end. It’s true we lost to Sabah at home, but the season is long, and we’ll do our best to win in the upcoming matches.
– Sabah’s forward Joy-Lance Mickels scored twice and played a key role in his team’s victory. In particular, he outpaced you for the first goal. Is it difficult to play against Mickels?
– Yes, that’s correct. I made a mistake on the first goal. Mickels reacted faster than me at that moment. I should have moved more quickly. I apologize to my team and fans for that mistake. Mickels is a very good player, but he scored because of my error.
– Shamakhi played better in the second half. During halftime, what did coach Aykhan Abbasov say or instruct you that led to a stronger performance in the second half?
– I can say the coach encouraged us and gave us the guidance we needed. As a result, we started playing more aggressively after the break.
– In the next round, you will face Sumgayit away. Does the fact that they collected maximum points in two rounds intimidate you? How do you assess their chances?
– We respect every opponent. Sumgayit is a good team. We have to approach each game as if it’s the last match, only then will we achieve results.
– So far, the summer signings Karim Rossi and Diogo Balau seem more active. Have they and other new transfers added strength to your team?
– Our new players are gradually adapting to the championship. The Azerbaijan league is very strong, so the newcomers need time to adjust. I’m confident that throughout the season, each of them will perform very well.
